About My Photography

The Photos

I do minimalist street photography. Some people refer to this style as Urban Fragments. Rather than taking photos of people and places, I capture details like stripes, patterns, and textures. It's about the little things. People tend to think of beauty as being something out of the ordinary or outside of their regular life. I think beauty surrounds us. All we have to do is take a moment and allow ourselves to notice. That's what I do. I capture what I notice.

The Titles

The words I write for a photo may or may not have an obvious relationship with the photo itself. I tend to imagine a photo as its own little world, and I wonder what's going on in there. What's the mood or the feeling? What's the story? That's how I come up with my titles and captions. Sometimes, however, things get a bit bloggy around here. And personal. It'll be obvious when the text matters and when it doesn't. You'll figure it out. And if you don't, no worries.

The Website

You could say this site is a labor of love because it combines three things that I love: photography, writing, and simple design. Less is more and s'mores are delicious, especially if they're homemade. This site is homemade, though my code is not delicious. I wrote the code by hand, in a text editor. Old school. All of this is and will always be a work in progress, because that's half the fun.

And Me

I'm a dabbler. Writing. Photohraphy. Web design. Those are my hobbies, and in each case, I am self-taught. I love to learn. Also, there is zero AI in my writing, my photography, or my web design. I'm not anti-AI, but we're in an age where people take credit for work they did not do. My words are mine. My photos are mine. My code is mine, for better or for worse.
