He To Be

My Bitcoin journey, what the future holds, and what I learn along the way.

Bitcoin Self Custody Guide

How to secure your Bitcoin: Understanding seed phrases, using a passphrase, and using a hardware wallet. Everything I recommend will be 100% open source, and the total cost for all of the hardware I recommend is under $125 (as of March 2024). I only recommend things I use and trust.

How Many Halvings Will There Be?

Halvings won't divide the block reward to zero. Halvings just cut the block reward in half. Block rewards will continue to be earned until the sats from a block reward cause the total supply of all Bitcoin that's ever been created to reach 21,000,000 BTC.

The Price Of Bitcoin And The Level Of The Lake

Picture the market for Bitcoin as if it's a giant lake. Buyers take water out, and sellers dump water in. But there's also a river constantly flowing into the lake. The halving cuts the volume of that river in half.

To Those Who Say This Time Is Different

Anyone who tries to treat this rally like any other Bitcoin rally is going to get wrecked. Anyone who tries to treat this upcoming halving-to-halving cycle like any previous cycle Is Going To Get Wrecked.

Don't Be Your Own Worst Enemy

53% of all Bitcoin addresses have less than 0.001 BTC. Only 1.93% of all addresses have more than 1 BTC. Only 0.29% of all addresses have 10 BTC. The numbers go down every year.

Why Halvings Will Rock The Market For Years

It's easy to think about Bitcoin's 4 year halving-to-halving cycles, see the block reward decreasing, and assume the impact of the halving is decreasing too. But it isn't. Here's why.

Using A Hardware Wallet

Self Custody Guide, Part 3:
A "cold wallet" is a wallet that's not connected to the internet. This usually means a hardware wallet. A hardware wallet secures your seed words by locking them in a device the internet can't reach. By doing this, it secures your wallet and everything in it.

Using A BIP39 Passphrase

Self Custody Guide, Part 2:
A passphrase isn't a password. A passphrase is your own custom entropy, used in addition to your seed words to generate another wallet. Some wallet apps refer to it as a "hidden wallet" because it can only be found using your seed words and the passphrase.

Understanding Seed Phrases

Self Custody Guide, Part 1:
Your coins aren't in your wallet. They're on the blockchain. Your wallet holds your seed phrase, which it uses to generate your addresses and keys. That's why your seed phrase is the keys to your wallet and everything in it.

Feast & Famine

The Great Readjustment, And What Comes Next

On November 10th, 2021, Bitcoin reached a high around $69,000. As I type this, the current price is $42,948. But this post isn't about the price. It's about where we are and where we're headed.

Was That The Top? Now What?

I don't believe this bull run is over, but if you think I'm wrong, I respect that. If you think we've reached the top for this cycle, then hopefully, you know what you need to do.

The Halving Nobody Likes To Talk About

Bitcoin block reward halvings happen once every four years. But there's another kind of halving. One that is self inflicted by too many hodlers. And it's brutal.

A Magic Number And An Exit Strategy

The time to make a plan is when times are good. If you wait until it's too late... it'll be too late. I can't give you the answers, but these are the questions you should be asking.

The Path That Led Me To Bitcoin

I was at a dive bar, on a first date with a woman who asked if I was feeling lucky. Mistaking this for a euphemism, I grinned until she slapped a lottery ticket on the table.

A Non-Introduction Introduction

I should introduce myself, but I won't. The point of creating this blog was to give myself a place to write anonymously. I'm just a guy with a secret, and my secret is this...
